Former Vikings running back Onterrio Smith, suspended by the NFL until at least October because of a fourth violation of the league's substance abuse policy, officially was given another chance to play football today when the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian Football League signed him to a one-year contract with an additional option year that would allow him to return to the NFL in 2007.
